This special edition comes to you today with exciting news! The 2025 Stand with Myanmar campaign, coordinated across the country and supported by all our agencies and state associations, is now fully LIVE!
WHY ARE WE STANDING WITH MYANMAR?
Tragically, families in Myanmar continue to suffer great injustice. With more than ten thousand Baptist brothers and sisters in Australia from various parts of Myanmar, we are standing ‘United in Loving Action’ with them between October and December this year, and we’d love you to join us.
The violence taking place in Myanmar since the coup of Feb 2021 has been compounded in recent months by a combination of natural disasters and the withdrawal of international funding for refugee camps in bordering countries. The Stand with Myanmar website has everything you need to know to take part in what we prayerfully hope will make a profound impact for the people of Myanmar.
But let me highlight three specific ways every Baptist church across the country can get involved:
ACT:
Speak out to your local MP using the easy-to-use tool here: https://standwithmyanmar.com.au/act. You can use the pre-written email, or you can easily personalise the message to make an even greater impact.
You’ll note there are three asks we are putting to the Australian Government which are also being taken to Canberra for the annual “Converge” gathering on October 28-29 by 45 Baptist leaders for 2 days of lobbying – please pray for a listening ear and a motivated response from our elected representatives.
PRAY:
Engage in corporate or individual prayer through the resources developed here: https://standwithmyanmar.com.au/pray.
There will be in person events held in each capital city in November, presenting a truly unique opportunity for the diverse people groups of Myanmar and the wider Baptist church in each city, to come together for a night of worship, prayer, sharing and mutual support. Details of events will be added to the website link above when finalised.
GIVE:

We want the government to know that we’re not asking anything that we’re not doing ourselves – and that’s why we’re unashamedly asking the Baptist Church across the country to dig deep!
The Stand with Myanmar campaign is the collaborative result of Baptist Mission Australia, Baptist World Aid Australia and the State Associations to advocate, pray, and raise funds for the people of Myanmar.
