Reflections from Stewart Pieper

Greetings QB Family

Last Thursday evening the QB Board gathered face to face for their regular monthly meeting.

In keeping with our QB Focus on intention discipleship the Board reflected on the importance of being immersed in and feeding on the scriptures based on Paul’s words to Timothy in 2 Tim 3:10-17.

Just as we all have a physical hunger; we also all have a spiritual hunger. Just as it is important for us to have a good physical diet, we also need to be feeding our souls in a healthy way on good food!

Here are 3 E’s when it comes to feeding on God’s word:

  1. Eat right – We need to nourish ourselves with the correct spiritual food. We should dig into the word of God for ourselves and not rely just on the ‘pre-digested’ work of others. Jesus is the bread of life (John 6) and we encounter Jesus as the living word in the written word of God. Jesus is the only one who can satisfy us. We need to immerse ourselves in God’s word and build an appetite.
  1. Eat regularly – As we eat food daily, we need our spiritual nourishment daily. Seeking spiritual nourishment once a week on Sunday will not feed us properly. Jesus said in Matt 4.4, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the Father. Spiritual food coming from God’s word.
  1. Exercise – 2 Tim 3:10-17. We need to work out what God has worked in. Exercise comes from putting God’s word into action, teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. Through obediently acting on God’s word we are being equipped for every good work.

Here are some of the highlights from the business of the Board meeting for your information:
