Queensland Conference and Camping Centres (QCCC) is pleased to announce a major expansion of its ministry capacity with the acquisition of Cobb and Co Nine Mile Camping Grounds, located near Gympie.
Set on 38 hectares of natural bushland with billabongs, creek frontage and themed recreational spaces, Cobb and Co will formally join QCCC’s network of Outdoor Education and Christian camping venues in February 2026.
This is QCCC’s most significant site acquisition in over two decades — a move that not only strengthens Outdoor Education and ministry infrastructure, but also directly advances the goals of Queensland Baptists’ Vision 33.
Over the past year, QCCC has partnered with founders Sean and Katherine O’Hanlon to deliver Survival Camp programs onsite. The site’s layout, atmosphere and unique resources make it ideal for immersive, Christ-centred programming — with further opportunity to reach students, equip leaders, and serve the wider church.
A newly completed 9-hole themed mini-golf course, featuring scenes like Pirates, Jurassic Park, The Lion King, and Alice in Wonderland, provides fun and accessible recreation for school groups, families and church campers alike.
Delivering Vision 33 Through Outdoor Ministry
Cobb and Co Nine Mile Camping Grounds will be a powerful contributor to Queensland Baptists’ Vision 33 priorities:
- Thriving Churches – by offering a simple, low-cost model for church camps that fosters relational connection and spiritual growth;
• Together in Mission – through shared ministry spaces, local partnerships and community-facing programming;
• Tomorrow’s Leaders – via expanded capacity for student camps, youth discipleship, and QCCC’s CAMPFIRE internship program; and
• Faithful Stewardship – by securing a strategic property asset with strong operating potential and long-term missional value.
A Low-Admin, High-Impact Option for QB Churches
In addition to school and leadership programming, Cobb and Co will be an ideal venue for QB churches to run their own family camps, youth weekends, and church retreats.
Churches can expect:
- A range of flexible accommodation, from solar-powered luxury tents to unpowered campsites;
• A low environmental footprint, with gas cooking and sustainable infrastructure;
• Well-equipped self-catering kitchens, with the potential for seasonal food service to be introduced in the future;
• A streamlined booking process — churches simply choose dates and direct attendees to book their own sites via the website; and
• Space to facilitate informal worship, community connection and shared meals, using the natural setting and existing camp infrastructure.
Plans are underway to further enhance the site’s suitability for church-based ministry, including dedicated gathering areas and support options, in future development stages.
As QCCC approaches its centenary in 2027, the addition of Cobb and Co Nine Mile Camping Grounds marks a bold step forward in serving churches, schools and families across Queensland. We are grateful to Sean and Katherine O’Hanlon for entrusting this legacy to QCCC.
