What an incredible few months it’s been on the road!
Our QB Safeguarding our Community Roadshows have wrapped up, and the results speak for themselves – over 650 people turned out from our Movement across the state to be part of this important journey to ensure our churches are safeguarding our children from harm.
David, Emily, and Kerry from TribalLink hit the road in March and travelled across the state, visiting 10 regions in person along with delivering two online presentations, to make sure no community was left out of this important conversation.
At the heart of the Roadshows the message was clear – our next generation matter!
The content of the roadshows focused on understanding the new Child Safe Organisations Act 2024. Sessions focused on:
- Child Safe Standards – Legislative requirement for churches from 1 April 2026. Explaining – what they mean in practice for our churches
- The Reportable Conduct Scheme – which came into effect for churches 1 July 2026. Explaining – how it works and why it matters.
These aren’t just compliance boxes to tick. They’re Christ-like principles – ensuring every child, no matter where they’re from, is genuinely safe, seen, and cared for.
We want to give a huge thank you to TribalLink, who generously shared Cultural Awareness Training with our churches. We are also grateful to the Queensland Family and Child Commission grant program, whose support made these Roadshows possible.
The Roadshows may be over, but the work is just beginning. Now it’s up to each of our churches to put this training into action – embedding 10 Child Safe Standards along with cultural safety into the everyday rhythm of church life.
