QB and ABM reflection on the recent Southern Baptist Convention

Home / QB and ABM reflection on the recent Southern Baptist Convention

QB Statement

Queensland Baptists affirms the autonomy of the local church under Christ, including the freedom of each congregation to appoint women and men to leadership and pastoral roles as they discern God’s calling.

As a Movement, through the QB Assembly, we acknowledge this diversity of practice and affirm that both women and men are gifted and called to pastoral ministry. We are committed to encouraging, recognising, and empowering women in their gifting, calling, and leadership.

We support the equipping of both women and men for recognised pastoral roles, give thanks for the contribution of women pastors among us, and pray that God will continue to raise up leaders—women and men alike—for service in our churches and mission.

ABM Statement

Australian Baptist Ministries is not connected to the Southern Baptist Convention. Guided by our own convictions, context, and biblical interpretation, our movement affirms the full and equal participation of both women and men in all areas of ministry and church leadership. While we deeply respect the autonomy of our local congregations to discern their own practices, we remain committed to supporting, recognising, and empowering women as pastors and leaders.

This position aligns with our membership in the Baptist World Alliance.
