Queensland Baptists is joining Baptist World Aid Australia (BWAA) in calling our churches and communities to pray for the people of Nepal following devastating flash floods across the districts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.
The floods have caused widespread destruction and loss of life. More than 460 deaths have been reported, with hundreds of people still missing as search and rescue efforts continue.
Homes, schools, roads, bridges and critical infrastructure have been swept away or severely damaged, while disrupted communications and power have left many communities isolated.
Responding to urgent needs
Baptist World Aid Australia’s local Christian partner is preparing to provide emergency assistance to communities impacted by the floods.
Support will help provide essential items including:
- Food kits, including potatoes, lentils, onions and oil
- Shelter items for families displaced by the floods
- Clothing and household items such as kitchen utensils
BWAA has also confirmed that the areas where its Christian partner delivers child and youth programs have not been affected by the flooding, and the partner’s staff and local partners are safe.

As we respond to this tragedy, we invite Queensland Baptists churches and communities to pray for the people of Nepal.
Pray for…
- That those still missing would be found safely, and that search and rescue teams would be protected and guided.
- That God would comfort those grieving the loss of loved ones and strengthen families whose lives have been devastated by the floods.
- That families displaced from their homes would have access to safe shelter, clean water, food, medical care and other essential supplies.
- That God would strengthen BWAA’s Christian partner and other relief organisations as they work to meet the needs of affected communities.
