Foster Care Sunday 2026

Home / Foster Care Sunday 2026

Children need families. Families need community. The local church can provide both.

That’s the vision behind Foster Care Sunday.

Foster Care Sunday isn’t simply about highlighting a need. It’s about helping churches respond:  celebrating carers, recognising vulnerable children and families, and inviting people to prayerfully consider the part they can play.

Becoming the kind of community that consistently shows up for vulnerable children and families is a journey, not a single event. Foster Care Sunday can be the beginning of that journey, or another step along the way.

The Foster Care Sunday resources this year focus on the next practical step that individuals or the church can take towards supporting children in Foster Care. We don’t all have to do the same thing, but we can all do something.

If you’d like to participate in a Foster Care Sunday in your church this year, we’d love to provide you with the 2026 Church Toolkit.

It includes a simple guide for planning a Foster Care Sunday, together with links to videos, screen graphics, social media resources, a sermon outline and prayer resources that you can use in a way that best fits your church community.

While many churches choose to celebrate Foster Care Sunday during September, in the middle Child Protection Week and Foster Care Week, you’re welcome to use the resources at any time that suits your church calendar.

If you’d like to talk through ideas or explore how your church could continue the journey beyond Foster Care Sunday, please contact Mel Wetzel (QB Kids and Family Team Leader) at melanie.wetzel@qb.org.au
