In 2026, Morling College, in partnership with Healthy Vibrant Communities Ltd, is piloting a new approach to ministry training and pastoral professional learning through the Complex Church Leadership Certificate, developed in partnership with Kara Martin and Matt Hunt.
This part-time, year-long programme equips pastors, leaders and core team members serving in churches with multiple enterprises, mission expressions or multi-site structures. It is designed for those navigating complex ministry models in contemporary church contexts.
The certificate includes three modules: two engaging the core principles of Leading Hybrid Churches, and one focused on the spiritual formation of pastors and leaders working in complex local church environments. Offered as professional learning rather than a formal academic award, the programme recognises the pressures and priorities of pastoral ministry and emphasises practical, applied learning.
Beginning each February, participants study as part of a cohort and take part in facilitated monthly online cohort gatherings. Activities within each module can be tailored to participants’ own complex church context, providing space for reflection, learning and shared insight with peers from across the Baptist movement.
