Despite steady rain for much of the weekend, spirits were high as QCCC and Queensland Baptists staff and families gathered at Cobb and Co Nine Mile Camping Grounds for a relaxed but meaningful time together last weekend. QCCC closed the property off to public bookings so QB/QCCC staff could have a proper and private experience of QCCC’s newest ministry venue. What could have been a washout instead became a glimpse of the remarkable potential this property holds for ministry in the years ahead.
Children splashed through puddles, families explored the grounds, and laughter echoed across the campsite as people shared meals, played the remarkable mini-golf course and enjoyed the simple pleasure of being outdoors together. The weather may have been wet, but the luxury tents and communal areas were dry, and the sense of possibility was unmistakable. Many who attended commented on how much untapped potential the property holds for ministry and churches across Southeast Queensland.
One of the most exciting developments is the opportunity for churches to run affordable and accessible family camps at Cobb and Co. QCCC will soon launch a simple “How to Book a Church Camp” guide, to be unveiled at the upcoming QB Awaken Conference. The aim is straightforward: to help more churches experience the relational, faith-forming power of shared time away together.
The spiritual highlight of the weekend came on Sunday morning, when the group gathered for a prayer and commissioning of the property. Moving across different parts of the land, participants prayed for young lives to encounter Christ, for wise stewardship of the land, for strong community, and for a culture of generous hospitality. The time concluded with a powerful moment of corporate commissioning, dedicating the land to Christ and praying that it would serve generations to come. If the weekend revealed anything, it is that Cobb and Co is more than a campsite. It is a place where faith, community and creation can come together to shape lives for the Kingdom.
