Sali from Cambodia would wake at 3am to start a long day’s work on her small farm. But it still produced too little to provide for the family.
To keep them fed, she had to forage for wild vegetables and catch fish from the river.
Still, there was barely enough to eat, and nothing was left over to sell, so she couldn’t afford school for her son, Sok.
Without training on how to manage a farm when rain comes only during two months of the year, no amount of hard work could overcome her challenges.
It was a hard and hungry life for Sali and her family.
Thankfully, Sali’s story changed when our local Christian Partner started working in her community.
With support from our local Christian Partner, goodness grew where poverty had once thwarted potential.
When you give to the Matching Grant Appeal, you’re helping our Christian Partners around the world as they support people working hard to transform their lives.
Not only will you be assisting people with their immediate needs—food, shelter and clothing—but you’ll also help address the underlying causes of poverty, like helping people access education and gain secure employment.
